HISTORY †

Connet 4は、Plot Four や Four In A Line とも呼ばれています。 1974年に Milton Bradley によって発売されました。それよりずっと古くから存在した版権なしバージョンは、"The Captain’s Mistress"として知られています。 1988年に Victor Allis と James D. Allenのそれぞれが、このゲームの必勝法を解きました。

2人で遊ぶ立体版4目並べです。垂直に立てたグリッド･ボードの上部から、対戦相手と交互に自分の色の駒を上から落して遊びます。サイズは、6x7, 7x7など、いろいろあるようです。

GOAL †

グリッド･ボードに並んだ自駒が、水平、垂直、斜めのいずれかで、4つ一列にそろったた方が勝ちです。

STRATEGY †

立体的に頭脳を駆使します。中央のマスに自駒を落として勝つ先手必勝法があります。 (以下、文脈推理必要) しかし隣り合った2マスに自駒を置いてしまうと、引き分けに持ち込まれてしまいます。また、外側の4マスに自駒を置いてしまうと、後手必勝となります。

With perfect play, the first player can force a win by starting in the middle column. Starting in the two adjacent columns allows the second player to reach a draw; starting with the four outer columns even allows the second player to force a win.
